The Nigerian Hajj Media Support Team (NHMST) has debunked rumors alleging that the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has unilaterally revoked the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NAHCON and Saudi service providers.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 10, 2025, NHMST confirmed, through a reliable source in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, that these claims are entirely false and a deliberate attempt by certain individuals to sow confusion in the Nigerian Hajj industry for their selfish interests.
The team described the reports as “a blatant lie aimed at misleading the public and creating unnecessary panic among intending pilgrims.”
The NHMST strongly urged the public, particularly stakeholders in the Hajj and Umrah sector, to disregard these unfounded speculations.
“We call on all people of good conscience to jettison these baseless rumors. The contractual agreement between NAHCON and Saudi service providers remains intact, and there is no cause for alarm,” said Ibrahim Abubakar Nagarta, National Coordinator of NHMST.
He further reassured intending pilgrims that all necessary arrangements for the 2025 Hajj are progressing smoothly and that NAHCON remains committed to ensuring a seamless pilgrimage experience.
“Full details regarding this matter will be made public in due course. We urge everyone to rely on verified information rather than misleading narratives,” he added.
NHMST reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate and timely updates on Hajj preparations and warned against the spread of false information capable of jeopardizing the confidence of intending pilgrims.
