As the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage approaches its most sacred moments, officials from the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board have conducted an inspection visit to Arafat and Mina, assessing the readiness of tents and facilities prepared for pilgrims from the state. The visit was aimed at ensuring the comfort and safety of pilgrims ahead of their movement on the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah to Mina and onward to Arafat on the 9th.
The Delegation was led by the Director Operations of the Board Alhaji Ibrahim SanTuraki expressed deep satisfaction with the arrangements made so far. The team noted that the tents were adequately prepared, and equipped with ventilation systems, sleeping materials, and close access to essential facilities.
In Arafat, the Gombe delegation was particularly pleased with the spacious and organized layout of the camp allocated to the state’s pilgrims. The area is located in a serene and accessible zone, with nearby medical facilities and emergency units. The tents are well-ventilated and fitted with necessary bedding to ensure comfort during the long hours of worship on the Day of Arafat.
Alhaji Ibrahim SanTuraki Speaking after the inspection, stated that the tent arrangements exceeded expectations, crediting the smooth coordination between the board and Saudi service providers. “We are here to make sure that every detail has been taken care of. Our pilgrims deserve the best, and what we have seen today assures us of a smooth Hajj experience,” he said.
The delegation also visited Mina, where Gombe pilgrims will stay during the symbolic stoning of the devil (Ramy al-Jamarat). There, too, the officials expressed satisfaction, particularly noting the proximity of the tents to the Jamarat Bridge, which will reduce the stress of movement for the pilgrims.
Mina tents reserved for Gombe pilgrims were found to be strategically located, clean, and equipped with enough toilet facilities to accommodate the needs of the pilgrimage. The availability of essential services within short walking distance was also commended.
Pilgrims from Gombe, currently residing in Makkah, have continued their spiritual activities with enthusiasm, visiting the holy mosque (Masjid al-Haram), performing prayers, tawaf, and other acts of devotion. The serene atmosphere and strong support structure have contributed to their focus and peace of mind.
Most pilgrims who spoke via telephone expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the arrangements made by the board. Many of them thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan, for providing the best possible accommodations and care during the pilgrimage.
“The hotel is close to the Haram, the food is healthy and timely, and our officials are always checking on us. We feel taken care of and appreciated,” said Hajia Zainab, a pilgrim from Akko LGA.
Feeding arrangements remain consistent, with balanced and hygienic meals provided daily to all pilgrims. Cleanliness standards are being strictly observed, and feedback mechanisms are in place to handle complaints swiftly.
In our independent investigation, no cases of mistreatment or neglect were reported among Gombe pilgrims. Board officials have remained visible and accessible, constantly engaging with pilgrims to offer guidance and ensure adherence to Saudi laws and pilgrimage etiquette.
The health condition of the pilgrims is also reported to be stable, with medical personnel from the board on standby at all times. Minor health concerns are promptly attended to, while efforts are ongoing to ensure all pilgrims are physically ready for the movements to Mina and Arafat.
Pre-Hajj orientation sessions conducted back in Nigeria are also paying off, as Gombe pilgrims have shown remarkable discipline and compliance with rules and rituals. Their conduct continues to attract praise from Hajj officials and fellow pilgrims from other states.
As the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah approaches, the Gombe State Pilgrims Welfare Board has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a seamless, dignified, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all pilgrims under its care. Monitoring teams will accompany the pilgrims to Mina and Arafat, providing round-the-clock support.
With strong leadership, effective planning, and the spiritual dedication of its pilgrims, Gombe State stands out once again as a model of excellence in Hajj and welfare delivery in Nigeria. All eyes are now on the sacred plains of Arafat, where the pinnacle of the pilgrimage will unfold in a few days.
