The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has recorded a major milestone in the ongoing airlift of pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj exercise, with 19 percent of intending pilgrims successfully transported to Saudi Arabia within the first three days of the operation. This represents a significant leap compared to the 9 percent achieved within the same timeframe in 2024.

In a statement signed by the Assistant Director Information and Publications of the Commission, Fatima Sanda Usara, said In the early stages of the exercise, Air Peace completed the airlift of Kogi State pilgrims, transporting 559 out of 564 scheduled passengers. Max Air also concluded the movement of 1,083 pilgrims from Oyo State to the Holy Land. Pilgrims from Imo and Abia States were similarly airlifted, except for a few who missed the inaugural flight; arrangements are in place to accommodate them during upcoming mop-up operations.
Meanwhile, airlift operations for Nasarawa State’s 944 pilgrims are in their final phase. UMZA Air is handling the flights, with the last plane already on the tarmac, preparing for departure.
Looking ahead, UMZA Air is scheduled to commence the airlift of Kaduna State pilgrims on 14th May, with back-to-back flights planned. FlyNas will begin transporting pilgrims from Sokoto State on 13th May, followed by Abuja pilgrims expected to depart on 16th May. Air Peace is also preparing to begin the airlift of Borno State pilgrims on 18th May.
