The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, has announced the distribution of over ₦375,397,680 to pilgrims from Kano State who participated in the 2023 Hajj.
Speaking during a management meeting at his office, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u explained that the funds were provided by the Saudi Arabian authorities through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) as compensation for the power outage experienced at Mina during the 2023 Hajj.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, said a total of 6,146 Kano pilgrims benefited from the compensation, with each receiving ₦61,080. The payments are being directly deposited into the pilgrims’ bank accounts, coordinated by Local Government Hajj Center Officers.
The Director General urged Hajj Center Officers to redouble their efforts in promoting the sale of Hajj seats for the upcoming pilgrimage. He noted concerns over the current low seat sales and emphasized the importance of collaboration to ensure effective operations and better service delivery for prospective pilgrims.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the welfare of pilgrims and improving their overall Hajj experience.
