Kebbi State Government has bagged three meritorious awards from Saudi Arabia for the state’s uncommon commitment towards ensuring the success of the 2024 Hajj exercise.
This was announced by the Chairman of the State Pilgrims’ Welfare Agency (PWA), Alhaji Faruk Aliyu, Enabo when he led the Board Members and Management Staff of the Agency to a courtesy call on the Governor at Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
Kebbi received an award for the best Hajj airlift exercise, an excellent feeding arrangement and peaceful conduct of Pilgrims during the Hajj period, among all Nigerian States
Enabo, who was visibly elated said that the state was among the best globally in the diligent conduct of the 2024 Hajj exercise.
According to him, the governor’s exemplary and unparalleled commitment resulted in the excellent conduct of the exercise.
Enabo said that the agency has never had it so good since twenty years ago, saying, “we have never answered our real name as PWA until during this year’s Hajj.
“We had excellent arrangements of the Hajj exercise all through, from the beginning to the end.
“This was all sequel to the adequate funding of our activities by the Governor.
‘ In addition, he gave each pilgrim from Kebbi State one million naira to complete Hajj Fare, paid the cost for sacrificial animals for all pilgrims in the Holy Land and donated 200 Saudi Riyals to every pilgrim”.
“This feat is unprecedented in the history of Kebbi State, the Governor appointed capable and experienced members of the Board of the Agency, who performed their task creditably, we are grateful to you for your in-quantifiable support”, Enabo emphasized.
Enabo expressed happiness that the pilgrims from the state were adequately taken care of both at home and in Saudi Arabia.
The PWA chairman also commended the wives of the governor for optimally complementing his efforts during the 2024 Hajj.
Enabo said, “They did their best to take good care of the female pilgrims and they deserve pats on their backs.”
He also commended the State House of Assembly and other Hajj sub committees for their support and diligent handling of the exercise.
Responding, Dr. Idris passed a vote of confidence on the board and management staff of the agency, saying, “I have no regret appointing them.
“I am also happy that you made us proud and the pilgrims were adequately taken care of.
“While pilgrims from other states were grumbling for neglect, pilgrims from Kebbi State were glaringly jubilating.”
Dr. Idris also said Hajj is always associated with some unforseen challenges, all those entrusted with the conduct of the 2024 Hajj in the state have done very well.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the 3 awards by the Executive Chairman of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruq Aliyu, Jagaban Gwandu to Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
