Media Awareness Initiatives for Hajj MAI-HAJJ, a non governmental organization has commended the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi for transforming the Commission within six months of his appointment

The organization, stated that Arabi’s approach to the challenges he met on ground and those emerged after taking over showed his dynamism, handwork and leadership qualities.

According to a statement signed by the vice Chairman (North) of the association , Uwais Abubakar Idris and the Public Relation Officer, Malam Kabiru Yusuf, the Commission’s achievements at the just concluded 2024 hajj operations are testimony of the Chairman’s ability and leadership quality.

Pilgrims who participated in the concluded hajji exercise are leaving witness and also can testify how the Commission improved feeding and accommodation arrangements at MASHA’IR, (that is in Mina and Arfat.)

Indeed, NAHCON achieved this level following the chairman’s commitment and determination through ensuring that service providers engaged by the Commission works according to plan.

It was the first time in the history of Hajj operation that, food was waiting for pilgrims at their respective tents in Mina and Arafat, couples with a package of gift items that’s include rechargeable mini fan, blanket, electronic Tasbih, and a pillow to march.

In fact some of the pilgrims interviewed by team of Journalists testified that both in Mina and Arfat there were leftovers of food as NAHCON supplied in excess and on time.

However, MAI-HAJJ lamented on how two state governors came out openly attacking the Commission over the 2024 Hajj operation, despite the fact that they are fully aware that no Hajj operation, had ever been 100 per cent hitch free, not only in Nigeria, but the world over.

Even though, the statement added NAHCON and it’s management can not be exonerated from human failings, but the two governors should have engage NAHCON with their grievances so as to find out what are the reasons behind all what they have view as failures, instead of calling for either scrapping the entirely, or decentralizing the commission’s power, functions and responsibilities.

President Tinubu, according to Senior Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelela, President Tinubu resolve to appoint, Malam Jalal Arabi as Chairman of the Board of the Commission to ensure hitch-free and seamless 2024 Hajj operations.
