It would be recalled that the airlift commenced on May 9, 2025, from Imo State in Nigeria’s Southeast, with a colorful and well-attended inaugural ceremony. The event was graced by high-ranking dignitaries including the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, the Sultan of Sokoto, the Executive Governor of Imo State, and the NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman.
Since the flag-off, the airlift operation has been progressing smoothly across the country, a feat worthy of commendation. Over 14,000 intending pilgrims have so far been successfully transported to Madinah. Interestingly, some of the early batches have already begun their onward journey to Makkah, after spending some spiritually fulfilling days in the Prophet’s City, to commence their Umrah rites.
This remarkable milestone, achieved within just a few days, is a testament to the strategic planning, foresight, and dedication of the NAHCON leadership under Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman. His dynamic management team and the tireless efforts of the Commission’s staff across all operational units have been central to this success.
The AHMSP, on behalf of its members nationwide, extends heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and members of the National Assembly’s Hajj Committees for their unwavering support to NAHCON support that has been instrumental in the smooth execution of the 2025 Hajj operations thus far.
We also salute the entire NAHCON workforce for their collective commitment, professionalism, and teamwork in ensuring the success of this sacred national assignment. It is our hope and prayer that this momentum will be sustained throughout the entire Hajj season both in the outbound and inbound phases.
