The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has charged members of the national media team for the 2025 Hajj to uphold fairness, justice, and the fear of Allah in the discharge of their duties.

He gave the charge on Tuesday during the inauguration and orientation ceremony of the national media team, held as part of preparations for the successful coverage of the 2025 Hajj operations.
While welcoming journalists and media team members who will be deployed to Saudi Arabia for the exercise, Professor Saleh emphasized the critical role the media plays in shaping public perception and guiding pilgrims through timely and accurate information.
“You tell the story of Hajj to the world and help people to see. The media is a powerful tool what you write, what you show, or what you say will have a great impact on the many people your story reaches,” he noted.
He urged the team to carry out their assignments with a deep sense of responsibility and spirituality, stating: “Please do your work with fairness, justice, and above all, with the fear of Allah.”
According to him, the Commission recognizes the importance of the media in disseminating truthful information and helping to educate and guide pilgrims, stressing that the success of the Hajj exercise also depends on effective communication.
“We in NAHCON appreciate the work you have been doing,” he said.
Providing an update on the ongoing airlift of Nigerian pilgrims, the NAHCON Chairman disclosed that as of Tuesday morning, about 12 states have successfully completed the airlift of their pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. He added that a total of 30,071 pilgrims from the government quota have so far been transported.
The inauguration marks the official deployment of the national media team who will be responsible for reporting activities, challenges, and progress of the 2025 Hajj operations from both Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
