NAHCON Intensifies Efforts in Makkah to Fast-Track Nusuk Card Distribution for Nigerian Pilgrims

With the Tashriq days fast approaching, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has stepped up its efforts to ensure all Nigerian pilgrims receive their Nusuk cards without delay. In a high-level emergency meeting held at the Commission’s Ummuljudd office in Makkah, NAHCON mobilized state Hajj officials and service providers to resolve bottlenecks in the card issuance process.

In a statement by the Head of Public Affairs of the Commission, Muhammad Ahmad Musa, said Deputy Coordinating Officer Mr. Alidu Shutti, who presided over the meeting on behalf of Chairman/CEO Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, underscored the urgency of the situation. He described the Nusuk card as a “non-negotiable access key” for pilgrims to enter the sacred sites of Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah, and even the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

“All efforts must now converge on getting these cards into the hands of every pilgrim,” Mr. Shutti said, urging all parties to scale up coordination and support systems at the state level.

In attendance were Executive Secretaries, State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board Chairmen, and key representatives from service firms Mashariq Al-Zahabyah and Ekram Al-Dayf. Among the key resolutions reached was the appointment of a dedicated Nusuk Desk Officer in each state. These officers will oversee card distribution, monitor delivery progress, and swiftly address any emerging complications.

To facilitate seamless operations, stakeholders also agreed to set up a central digital communication hub for real-time troubleshooting and feedback on Nusuk-related matters. The two major service providers assured full cooperation and pledged to promptly report any hindrances to the group for immediate resolution.

Additionally, the meeting stressed the importance of wide-reaching awareness campaigns. Pilgrims were strongly advised to handle their Nusuk cards with the same vigilance as their international passports. “Without the card, pilgrims will be denied access to perform the core rites of Hajj,” Mr. Shutti cautioned.

Reaffirming its dedication to a successful Hajj season, NAHCON promised to leave no stone unturned in eliminating administrative barriers and safeguarding the spiritual journey of Nigerian pilgrims
