The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has issued a public disclaimer distancing its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, from a fake Facebook account allegedly operating in his name.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, Fatima Sanda Usara, the Commission described the account as fraudulent and warned members of the public against engaging with it.
According to the statement, the fake account is impersonating the newly appointed NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, and has no affiliation whatsoever with him or the Commission.
NAHCON clarified that Ambassador Abba Yusuf is not on Facebook or any other social media platform, stressing that any account claiming to represent him is fake and should be treated as such.
The Commission advised the general public to disregard any communication emanating from the said account or similar platforms and to report such accounts to the appropriate authorities.
NAHCON further urged stakeholders, pilgrims and members of the public to rely solely on the Commission’s official communication channels for accurate and verified information regarding its activities and leadership.
