The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Abuja recently held a ceremony to distribute 100 tonnes (100,000 kg) of dates to Nigeria as part of its annual humanitarian efforts.

The initiative, coordinated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), aims to support vulnerable families across the country and strengthen ties between the two nations.

During the ceremony, Faisal bin Ibrahim, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Nigeria, conveyed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to humanitarian causes. He expressed his gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support in providing aid to underserved communities globally.

Mr. Al-Ghamdi explained that this year’s distribution includes 50 tonnes of dates for Abuja and another 50 tonnes for Kano, continuing Saudi Arabia’s tradition of assisting Nigeria with humanitarian donations.

He emphasized that the initiative is part of the Kingdom’s broader mission to assist Muslim communities, alleviate suffering, and promote unity, particularly during significant religious periods like Ramadan.

The embassy, in collaboration with local authorities and humanitarian organizations, will ensure that the dates reach the most vulnerable families in various regions of Nigeria.

Mr. Al-Ghamdi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Nigeria, particularly in humanitarian and Islamic affairs.

Saudi Arabia has long been a partner in providing humanitarian aid worldwide, including to Nigeria. The Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to support food security and welfare initiatives highlight its role in charitable and humanitarian endeavors.

Through Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia aims to expand its contributions to international humanitarian causes, reinforcing its commitment to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity worldwide. The continued provision of aid to Nigeria underscores these efforts and the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
