The tenth edition of the “Holy Sites Visit Programme for Youths of Arab and Islamic Countries,” has begun in the sacred city of Makkah with the participation of 144 youths and 65 delegates from Muslim-majority countries.
Speaking on behalf of the Saudi sports ministry, Dr Shams Alsaby, director general of Youth Activities department, welcomed the participants.
For ten days, the invited tourists will visit the Islamic holy places in Makkah, Medina and Jeddah; interact with Saudi youth and learn about Saudi Arabia’s significant efforts in serving pilgrims from all over the world and developing the holy sites, he said.
Ali Al-Hazani, director of the Saudi Youth Development Department, reviewed the activities planned for the journey to the Islamic holy sites.
He urged the participants to reap the maximum benefit possible from the programme and from their experience in Saudi Arabia. Participants will also get the opportunity to review Saudi engagements in the field of empowering youth and enhancing their role in developing their societies.
Ali Al-Hazani called upon the participants to build relationships, pointing out that the sports ministry’s team is fully ready to provide all possible support to all participants in order to achieve this.
The programme unites young leaders from the OIC member states, and thus contributes to the achievement of the OIC’s youth empowerment objectives
