Supporting NAHCON chairman’s leadership – By Raji Saidu Onipson

The recent news of a public disagreement involving the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has sparked unnecessary controversy. While some are focused on the details of a shouting match, the more crucial conversation should be about his performance and the positive results of the recent Hajj exercise.

It is a basic principle that as the head and chief security officer of the agency, Professor Usman has the authority to direct his subordinates at any time, especially when he believes they are acting incorrectly.

This is a fundamental aspect of effective leadership.

The real measure of his leadership is not found in a heated exchange, but in the widespread satisfaction of the millions of Nigerians who performed the recent Hajj.

Their commendations speak volumes about the successful management of the pilgrimage. This is why I urge the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians to rally behind the Executive Chairman and support his efforts to position NAHCON for the future. We must call for an end to the baseless, fabricated reports from so-called journalists who seek to undermine the organization. It’s time to say “enough is enough” to the frequent changing of NAHCON’s leadership.

Frequent changes in top management prevent an organization from achieving its long-term goals. An institution like NAHCON, which has a clear Vision 2030, needs stability and consistent leadership to see its plans through.

Professor Usman has already demonstrated remarkable performance that will be difficult to surpass in the coming decade. He deserves the opportunity to complete his tenure and continue his work. His focus is on making the Hajj pilgrimage more accessible for the average Nigerian, and his tenure has already laid the groundwork for significant progress. His administration has also initiated projects to produce certain items for pilgrims locally, which creates job opportunities for Nigerians and reduces reliance on foreign goods.

Professor Usman’s leadership has been inclusive, and the results have been excellent. It is regrettable that some people are trying to pull him down and sow confusion, creating the false impression that NAHCON is a corrupt organization. Given the massive logistical and financial tasks involved, the management’s efforts to serve the citizens are highly commendable.

Anyone who has witnessed NAHCON’s operations firsthand, both in Nigeria and in the Holy Land, can attest to their professionalism and dedication. Let us support Professor Usman and the entire NAHCON team in their pursuit of excellence. By encouraging them, we ensure that they can continue to deliver outstanding results for all Nigerians.
