Vice President Kashim Shettima has performed the Umrah, also known as the lesser hajj, at the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where he fervently prayed for Nigeria’s peace and stability.
During the spiritual exercise, VP Shettima offered heartfelt prayers, seeking divine guidance for the nation’s leadership and citizens. Speaking on Wednesday at the sacred site, he emphasized the importance of unity and tranquility for Nigeria.
“Our foremost prayer is for peace to reign in our land,” the Vice President stated. “May Allah bestow peace and social harmony upon our nation.”
He also prayed for wisdom and compassion for Nigeria’s leaders at all levels, saying, “May Allah bless our leaders, from the President to our local councillors, with the wisdom, patience, and generosity exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”
The Vice President continued, “We ask Allah for the wisdom to govern our people justly and lead our nation towards prosperity. May peace, tranquility, and progress prevail in Nigeria, and we trust that Allah will answer our prayers.”
In a related development, a bilateral meeting initially scheduled between VP Shettima and the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah has been postponed to a later date. The Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria tomorrow.
Before traveling to Saudi Arabia, VP Shettima was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the commissioning of a $315 million oil production and storage facility owned by Oriental Energy Limited (OERL).
