Thousands of worshippers converged on Masjid al-Haram and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi on Tuesday night to mark the completion of Qur’an recitation during the holy month of Ramadan.
The annual spiritual milestone drew large crowds from across Saudi Arabia and around the world, as many Muslims strive to complete the entire Qur’an before the end of Ramadan. From the early hours of the day, the Prophet’s Mosque was filled to capacity, with worshippers occupying its courtyards, rooftops, and surrounding areas.
At the Prophet’s Mosque, prayers were led by Imam and Khateeb Sheikh Salah Al-Budair, who offered heartfelt supplications for forgiveness, peace, and protection for Muslims worldwide. He also prayed for continued security and stability in Muslim nations and for divine guidance for their leaders.
To manage the influx of worshippers, the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques implemented extensive service measures. These included frequent cleaning and sanitization of the المسجد, fumigation with incense, and the provision of approximately 25,000 prayer rugs to enhance comfort.
Meanwhile, the Grand Mosque in Makkah witnessed similarly large gatherings, particularly for late-night Tahajjud prayers. The atmosphere was deeply spiritual, with Qur’anic recitations echoing throughout the sacred space as worshippers stood shoulder to shoulder in devotion.
Emotions ran high as many raised their hands in prayer, some in tears, seeking mercy and acceptance during these final days of Ramadan. The diverse congregation, representing numerous nationalities, reflected the unity and shared faith of the global Muslim community.
Authorities intensified operational efforts to ensure smooth movement and safety, deploying guidance teams to assist worshippers and regulate crowd flow. Continuous access to Zamzam water, along with round-the-clock air-conditioning and lighting, further supported a comfortable worship experience.
The large-scale preparations underscore Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to facilitating عبادات for visitors to Islam’s holiest sites, ensuring a safe and serene environment for all.
