Professor Abdullahi Sale Usman, the newly appointed Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), is set to assume his duties in an acting capacity pending his formal confirmation by the Senate.
This arrangement will hold until the Senate returns from vacation to deliberate on his appointment.
This was revealed in a letter sighted by *Hajj Chronicles*, dated 5th September 2024, and signed by the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Vice President.
The letter states that Professor Usman will oversee the Commission’s activities while awaiting Senate confirmation.
Professor Usman’s appointment has garnered significant support due to his extensive experience and contributions to the Hajj sector in Nigeria. The confirmation process is expected to commence once the Senate resumes its sessions.
