In recognition of his exemplary leadership and significant contributions to the welfare of pilgrims, the Independent Hajj Reporters, in collaboration with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has named the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, as its Patron.
In a bit by the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Habibu Yusuf Babura, this prestigious recognition celebrates the outstanding success recorded under Governor Namadi’s administration in steering the affairs of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board. Under his guidance, the state has consistently implemented pilgrim-friendly policies, ensuring strategic accommodation, complimentary daily meals, and efficient logistics for both Hajj and Umrah operations.
Representing the governor at the event, the Director-General of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, Umar Ahmed Labbo FCFA commended the Independent Hajj Reporters for recognising and honouring the governor as its Patron.
Elaborating on the board’s recent achievements, Labbo emphasised that Governor Namadi’s unwavering commitment to the spiritual and physical well-being of pilgrims has transformed Jigawa into a model state for Hajj operations.
He noted that through proactive state funding and administrative interventions, the board successfully streamlined pre-departure screenings, secured premium lodgings near key holy sites in Saudi Arabia, and established structured medical support teams to cater exclusively to Jigawa pilgrims throughout their pilgrimage.
Labbo highlighted that the governor’s vision led to the implementation of continuous orientation programmes and financial safety nets for intending pilgrims, significantly easing the administrative and financial burdens often associated with the exercise.
He reaffirmed that the board remains dedicated to sustaining these high standards, assuring that Governor Namadi’s patron status will serve as further motivation to innovate and enhance the overall Hajj experience for the state’s pilgrims.
