NAHCON Sets the Record Straight, Dismisses False Claims

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has responded to recent media discussions concerning its leadership and administrative decisions, reaffirming its commitment to due process and transparency.

As a public institution, NAHCON ensures that its operations adhere strictly to regulatory frameworks and civil service procedures. While recognizing the role of staff unions in advocating for employee welfare, the Commission rejects misrepresentations regarding its engagement with its Staff Union. Contrary to circulating reports, the Union did not submit a petition against NAHCON’s leadership but rather issued an internal reminder on staff welfare matters—an issue already under management’s consideration.

Addressing allegations of nepotism, NAHCON categorically refutes claims that its Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh, appointed his son as a Personal Assistant, emphasizing that all appointments follow due process. Additionally, reports suggesting that retirees remain on NAHCON’s official staff list are either a deliberate distortion or a misunderstanding of the Commission’s structure.

In a statement by the Assistant Director Information and Publications of the Commission, Fatima Sanda Usara, said NAHCON urges the media to uphold accuracy and refrain from sensationalism, emphasizing its openness to addressing concerns through appropriate channels. The Commission remains focused on its primary mandate—ensuring a seamless Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims—while welcoming meaningful contributions that promote responsible discourse.
