Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Adamu Muhammad Dokoro, has urged Nigerian intending pilgrims currently in Madina to uphold the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in all their acts of worship as they prepare for the upcoming Hajj rituals.

The cleric made the call during a special enlightenment session organized at one of the Nigerian pilgrims’ accommodations in the holy city.

The gathering, attended by a large number of male and female pilgrims, was aimed at offering spiritual guidance and clarifying the proper steps for performing Umrah and other Hajj rites in line with Islamic teachings.

Addressing the audience, Sheikh Dokoro emphasized the need for sincerity, patience, and adherence to prophetic traditions, stressing that pilgrimage is not a mere physical journey, but a profound spiritual experience that requires devotion and discipline.

“Pilgrimage is a sacred obligation. Every action performed must align with the teachings of the Prophet, peace be upon him. It is an opportunity to attain forgiveness and spiritual rebirth,” he said.

During the session, the cleric provided a detailed explanation of how to perform Umrah from the point of arrival at Miqat, to Tawaf around the Ka’abah, Sa’i between the hills of Safa and Marwa, and finally, the shaving or trimming of the hair.

In addition, Sheikh Dokoro gave a practical demonstration on how to properly wear and secure the Ihram garments, highlighting the importance of comfort and modesty during the days of intense spiritual activity.

Many pilgrims who attended the session expressed appreciation for the enlightenment, describing it as timely and eye-opening. Some noted that the practical teachings had given them more confidence and clarity ahead of the Hajj.

The scholar also advised the pilgrims to avoid disputes, impatience, and any behavior that may invalidate or diminish the spiritual value of their pilgrimage. He encouraged them to engage in acts of worship, remembrance of Allah, and seek forgiveness throughout their stay in the holy land.

The session is part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian Hajj officials and religious leaders to ensure that pilgrims are adequately informed and spiritually prepared for a hitch-free and acceptable Hajj
