The second batch of Gombe State pilgrims has successfully arrived in the holy city of Mecca after spending four spiritually uplifting days in Medina. The group, comprising hundreds of faithful Muslims, made the journey in ten well-organized buses under the guidance of officials from the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board. The pilgrims were reported to be in high spirits and full of energy as they embarked on the next phase of their Hajj journey.

Their stay in Medina was marked by a deep sense of devotion and worship. The pilgrims visited sacred Islamic landmarks, including the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi), and took part in various religious activities. These included congregational prayers, spiritual lectures, and moments of reflection at historical sites significant to Islamic heritage.

Unfortunately, one female pilgrim had to remain behind in Medina due to health challenges. She was admitted to a local hospital for medical attention. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assured that she is receiving the best possible care and will be brought to Mecca as soon as she is discharged and deemed fit to travel. Her condition is reported to be stable, and she is in good hands under the supervision of Nigerian officials.

Some pilgrims experienced minor health issues such as coughing, fatigue, and general stress related to the journey. Medical teams accompanying the pilgrims provided prompt care and support to those affected. According to the Welfare Board, none of the issues were severe, and all other pilgrims were able to proceed to Mecca without major complications.

Upon arrival in Mecca, the pilgrims wasted no time in conducting their Umrah rites. They performed the sacred rituals with focus and sincerity, including the Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba), Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwa), and other spiritual observances. This marked a significant milestone in their Hajj experience as they embraced the spiritual atmosphere of the Holy Mosque.

Many of the pilgrims have expressed deep gratitude to the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his tireless support. They particularly praised his efforts in securing quality accommodation located close to the Haram, which made it easier for them to attend prayers and participate in other spiritual activities with ease and comfort.

Speaking to me from Mecca, one of the pilgrims said, “We thank our Governor for giving us the best accommodation close to the Haram. It really helped us focus on our worship without the stress of long-distance travel. May Allah reward him and bless Gombe State.” Others echoed similar sentiments, saying the governor’s intervention significantly improved their Hajj experience.

The pilgrims also commended the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board for their dedication and efficiency throughout the journey. From travel logistics to healthcare, feeding, and general welfare, the board was credited for providing excellent care and ensuring the comfort and safety of every pilgrim.

Officials from the Board reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high standards of service throughout the Hajj period. They promised to continue monitoring the health and well-being of the pilgrims while offering all necessary support to enable them complete their rites successfully and return home safely.

As the Hajj rituals continue in Mecca, the Gombe State pilgrims are preparing for the upcoming stages of the sacred journey. With renewed faith and commitment, they are determined to complete the Hajj with gratitude and devotion, representing their state and country with pride.
