Staff of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board have honoured the Executive Secretary, Dr. Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to improving Hajj administration in the state.
According to the Information Officer of the Agency, Mohd Nasir, the award was presented during a reception organized by members of staff to celebrate his recent conferment of the traditional title of Dujuman Bauchi by the Bauchi Emirate.
Presenting the award, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Murtala Muhammad Bawa, congratulated Dr. Idris on the honour. He described the title as a testament to the Executive Secretary’s outstanding leadership, dedication, and contributions to the development of the Board. Bawa noted that the reception was organized to celebrate the well-deserved recognition.
In his vote of thanks, the Director of Hajj Operations, Khamisu Abdu Gwalabe, described Dujuman Bauchi as a prestigious and historic traditional office. He explained that such titles were previously more common in neighbouring states, particularly Borno, underscoring the significance of the honour bestowed on Dr. Idris.
The Director of Enlightenment, Alhaji Hashimu Abubakar, in his goodwill message, said the traditional title was well deserved. He added that it was conferred after careful consideration of imam abdulrahaman contributions and service, and prayed for Allah’s continued guidance and success for the Executive Secretary.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Staff Officer of the Board, Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Gamawa, described Dr. Abdurrahman as a committed and capable administrator who has consistently demonstrated competence and dedication in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Responding, the Executive Secretary expressed appreciation to the entire staff for organizing the reception and thanked them for their prayers and goodwill following his appointment as Dujuman Bauchi
Dr. Abdurrahman also expressed gratitude to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Dr. Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu, for conferring the traditional title on him. He further commended Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for establishing new emirates and chiefdoms in the state, describing the initiative as a step toward strengthening traditional institutions.
The Executive Secretary also praised the Board’s staff, particularly the Staff Officer, Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Gamawa, for their dedication and commitment during Hajj operations, and urged them to sustain the spirit of teamwork.
