The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) wishes to inform the public of a fire outbreak that occurred today, Saturday, 7th June 2025, at approximately 12:00 noon (KSA time), in Imaratus Sanan Hotel located on Shari Mansur Street, Makkah. The hotel was accommodating 484 Nigerian pilgrims under six licensed Private Tour Operators.

 

Thanks to the swift intervention of Saudi emergency services and the hotel management, the fire was quickly contained, with no casualties or serious injuries reported. All pilgrims have since moved safely to Mina for Hajj rites.

 

In a statement signed by the Assistant Director Information and Publications of the Commission Fatima Sanda Usara,, said Following the incident, NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, accompanied by Commissioner for Policy, Personnel Management and Finance, Alhaji Aliu Abdulrazak, and Deputy Makkah Coordinator, Director Alidu Shutti, visited the hotel to assess the situation and reassure the pilgrims.

 

Professor Abdullahi expressed gratitude to Allah for the safety of all pilgrims and ordered their immediate relocation to alternative accommodation. He also commiserated with those affected, pledging NAHCON’s full support to minimize the discomfort caused.

 

Arrangements for the relocation have since been completed, with the new facility inspected and approved by the NAHCON delegation.

 

The Commission extends its appreciation to the Saudi emergency responders and hotel staff for their timely and coordinated efforts in managing the situation.
