The Chairman of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, has held a preparatory meeting with members of the State’s Hajj 2026 Media and Publicity Committee as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated pilgrimage.

 

According to the Head of Information and Communications of the Agency Faruku Umar, during the meeting, the Chairman outlined the committee’s terms of reference, emphasizing its crucial role in managing information dissemination before, during, and after the Hajj exercise. He noted that effective communication, public awareness, and media engagement remain central to the success of Hajj operations.

 

Alhaji Aliyu Musa explained that the committee would be responsible for educating intending pilgrims on Hajj procedures, requirements, health guidelines, travel schedules, and other relevant regulations.

 

He added that the committee would also provide timely updates on key developments, including flight schedules, accommodation arrangements, safety advisories, and policy changes.

 

The Chairman further stressed the need for strong collaboration with media organizations to ensure accurate and responsible coverage of Hajj activities.

 

He urged the committee to promote a positive image of the exercise by addressing misinformation and highlighting achievements recorded during the pilgrimage.

 

He also tasked the committee with managing communication during emergencies to prevent panic and ensure clarity, as well as documenting activities through reports, photographs, and videos for future reference and planning.

 

In addition, he emphasized the importance of engaging stakeholders, including pilgrims, government agencies, and international bodies, to guarantee seamless communication throughout the Hajj period.

 

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Mallam Muhammad Umar, assured that members are fully prepared and committed to discharging their duties effectively.

 

The five-member committee is chaired by Muhammad Umar, while Faruku Umar serves as Secretary.
