The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has called on Islamic scholars in the state to intensify efforts towards educating and enlightening their followers on the September 26, 2026 deadline introduced by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the registration of pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj.
According to the head of Information and Communications of the Agency, Faruku Umar, he Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, made the call today during a meeting between the Agency and members of the Sokoto State Hajj Ulama Committee.
Alhaji Aliyu Musa noted that members of the Ulama Committee have an important role to play in educating and enlightening intending pilgrims, particularly through Friday sermons, Islamic lectures and other religious activities, on the need to hasten their Hajj registration and payment processes.
He explained that the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has fixed September 26, 2026 as the deadline for the registration of intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj, urging those wishing to perform the pilgrimage to take the necessary steps before the expiration of the deadline.
The Chairman also emphasized the need for all intending pilgrims who have made payments for the Hajj to submit their valid International Passports to the Agency without delay, stressing that timely submission of the required documents is essential for the successful completion of the registration process.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar JJ, described the Ulama Committee as important partners in the administration of Hajj in Sokoto State.
He commended the scholars for their continued support and cooperation with the Agency, noting that their role in educating pilgrims and providing accurate religious guidance contributes significantly to the success of Hajj operations.
Responding on behalf of the committee, the Chairman of the Ulamas Alhaji Abubakar Attahiru assured the Agency of their continued support and commitment towards educating intending pilgrims and supporting the Agency in ensuring a smooth and successful 2027 Hajj operation.
The meeting was attended by all Directors of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency.
