The program, which had witnessed a temporary suspension following the sudden demise of the Head of the Department of Enlightenment, Malam Yahaya Haruna, resumed on Saturday with an overwhelming and commendable attendance, reaffirming the strong spiritual zeal and discipline of the intending pilgrims.
Despite the somber atmosphere left behind by the passing of the beloved Malam Yahaya Haruna, whose contributions to the enlightenment of pilgrims over the years were widely recognized and respected, today’s turnout signified unity, purpose, and reverence for the journey ahead.
Officials at the venue expressed satisfaction over the level of participation, describing it as one of the largest gatherings seen in recent years for a single orientation session. The session covered essential topics such as Hajj rituals, health precautions, travel guidelines, and the responsibilities of pilgrims, all aimed at ensuring a smooth and spiritually rewarding pilgrimage.
Addressing the gathering, a representative of the board paid tribute to the late Malam Yahaya Haruna, describing him as a pillar of the board’s enlightenment department. “His legacy lives on through your dedication and commitment today,” he stated, urging pilgrims to honor his memory by following through with the teachings and guidance provided during the sessions.
Pilgrims interviewed at the venue expressed their readiness for the holy journey and appreciation to the board for its tireless efforts in preparing them adequately. Many described the session as not only educational but spiritually uplifting.
The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has reaffirmed its commitment to continue the enlightenment program in preparation for the forthcoming Hajj, ensuring that all intending pilgrims are well-guided, informed, and spiritually prepared.
The session serves as a powerful testament to the resilience of the Hajj community in Gombe and the enduring impact of dedicated leaders like Malam Yahaya Haruna.
