The Director-General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo FCFA, has been recognised among the outstanding state officials who contributed to effective medical services and feeding arrangements during the 2026 Hajj operation.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Habibu Yusuf Babura, the recognition was presented by the Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR) following its assessment and consultations conducted during the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The award was presented to Alhaji Labbo by the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, accompanied by the National Coordinator of Independent Hajj Reporters, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed.
The honour acknowledges the leadership and commitment demonstrated by the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board in ensuring that pilgrims from the state received appropriate medical attention and feeding services throughout the pilgrimage.
Receiving the award, Alhaji Labbo expressed appreciation to Independent Hajj Reporters for recognising the efforts of the Board. He described the award as an encouragement to the management and staff to work harder towards improving services to Jigawa pilgrims.
The Director-General pledged that the Board would continue to pursue higher standards of service delivery, while expressing optimism that its efforts towards improving pilgrims’ welfare would attract further recognition.
Alhaji Labbo dedicated the award to the entire staff of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, commending their dedication, teamwork and cooperation, which he said contributed greatly to the achievement.
He also appreciated the Jigawa State Government for its continued support and commitment to ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of pilgrims from the state.
