The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the vaccination of intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise, as part of efforts to ensure their health and safety throughout the pilgrimage.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Habibu Yusuf Babura, said the exercise, which has been flagged off across the grassroots, is aimed at protecting pilgrims from potential health risks and ensuring a smooth Hajj experience from departure in Nigeria to their stay in the Holy Land and safe return.

Speaking at the launch, the Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, stressed the importance of the vaccination programme, noting that it is a critical requirement for safeguarding pilgrims against diseases and enhancing their overall wellbeing.

He added that preparations for the 2026 Hajj are progressing steadily, with various programmes already in place to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

Also speaking, the Head of the Medical Team, Dr. Abubakar Habib, assured that adequate vaccines have been secured and that the exercise will continue until all intending pilgrims are fully covered.

In his remarks, the Director of Hajj Operations, Muhammad Garba, emphasized the need for pilgrims to comply with all health regulations stipulated by Saudi Arabian authorities.

 

The Board expressed appreciation to the Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, for his continued support and commitment toward the success of the Hajj operations.
