The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has entered into a partnership with a Makkah-based foundation to provide free eye care services to pilgrims from the state currently performing the Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Board, under the arrangement, Jigawa pilgrims will receive comprehensive eye treatment, including cataract surgeries and the provision of medications, at no cost.
Speaking on the initiative, the Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, said the partnership reflects the board’s commitment to safeguarding the health and welfare of pilgrims.
He explained that the board remains focused on introducing programmes and interventions that directly benefit pilgrims, both during their preparation for Hajj in Nigeria and throughout their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to him, access to quality healthcare is essential to ensuring that pilgrims perform their religious obligations in good health and comfort.
Labbo described the collaboration as a major milestone in the board’s efforts to improve the welfare of Jigawa pilgrims and reaffirmed its determination to continue pursuing initiatives that enhance their overall well-being.
The free eye care programme is expected to benefit numerous pilgrims requiring medical attention, particularly those suffering from cataracts and other vision-related conditions.
