The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assessed the level of preparedness of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board for the 2027 Hajj operation.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Habibu Yusuf Babura, the assessment was conducted during an official visit by a NAHCON delegation led by the Northwest Zone Commissioner, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman, to the headquarters of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The delegation was received by the Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, who led the team on an inspection tour of the Board’s facilities and briefed them on the state’s preparations for the forthcoming pilgrimage.
Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Labbo said Jigawa State had made significant progress in its preparations, disclosing that the Board had already exhausted its 2027 Hajj allocation and formally requested additional seats from NAHCON to meet the increasing demand from intending pilgrims.
The NAHCON delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel.
During the meeting, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman highlighted some of the latest policies and requirements for the 2027 Hajj operation, including the mandatory medical fitness assessment for prospective pilgrims.
He stressed the importance of continued cooperation between NAHCON and State Pilgrims Welfare Boards in ensuring effective planning, proper coordination and improved welfare services for Nigerian pilgrims.
Responding, the Deputy Governor expressed appreciation to the NAHCON delegation for the visit and commended the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board for its outstanding performance in Hajj administration.
Engineer Gumel reaffirmed the commitment of the Jigawa State Government to the welfare and safety of its pilgrims, noting that the state’s sustained investment and commitment to Hajj administration had contributed to its consistent top ranking in national Hajj operations.
He assured the delegation that the state would continue to maintain its high standards and strengthen its partnership with NAHCON towards ensuring smooth and successful Hajj operations.
