The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and licensed Private Tour Operators held a virtual meeting on Monday night, 7th October 2025, to discuss key operational updates ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The meeting produced several important resolutions aimed at improving efficiency and coordination between NAHCON and the private operators.

One major outcome was the confirmation that tour operators can now remit their funds directly into their designated IBAN accounts, a move expected to reduce pressure on NAHCON and simplify financial transactions to ensure quicker payment processes.

In addition, NAHCON informed the operators that they can now book their camps directly in the Mashair (holy sites).

However,  Saudi authorities have delayed camp booking because their plan is to camp private pilgrims in a specific area, a decision still being finalized.

The meeting also reaffirmed the structure of 10 lead companies to coordinate activities among the private tour operators. Last year’s lead companies will still be maintained, however unlike the previous arrangements, companies now have the freedom to select their own group leaders from among the members. Each group will consist of 13 members.

Furthermore, any operator from among the members that wishes to change groups may now submit a written request, provided that the new group does not exceed the stipulated 13-member limit.

The meeting ended with a commitment to follow up on pending issues and to continue working together towards a successful 2026 Hajj.
