The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has alerted Tour Operators, intending pilgrims and the general public to the activities of individuals falsely presenting themselves as Commission officials or agents and demanding money in exchange for guaranteed 2027 Hajj slots.
According to the circular issued in Abuja, NAHCON stressed that no individual, agent, Tour Operator or intermediary is authorized to collect any payment, facilitation fee or additional charge from intending pilgrims or Tour Operators for the purpose of securing, guaranteeing or influencing special Hajj slot allocations.
The Commission explained that the allocation of Hajj slots is carried out strictly in accordance with approved procedures and the established guidelines governing the licensing and operations of Hajj Tour Operators.
It therefore warned that anyone who contacts Tour Operators or intending pilgrims to solicit money in return for guaranteed Hajj slots is acting illegally and without the Commission’s authorization. Members of the public are advised to report such individuals and their activities to the Police or other relevant law enforcement authorities.
Advice to Intending Pilgrims
NAHCON urged intending pilgrims to:
Make payments only through officially approved channels, including State Pilgrims Welfare Agencies, designated Hajj Savings Banks and duly licensed Tour Operators.
Ignore unsolicited calls, messages or requests for additional payments purportedly linked to Hajj slot allocation.
Rely only on official announcements and communications issued by NAHCON and other authorized Hajj bodies.
The Commission further reminded stakeholders that failure to upload pilgrims’ data by 26 September 2026 and complete the required remittances by 2 December 2026 will lead to the forfeiture of allocated Hajj slots, irrespective of promises or assurances made by unauthorized individuals.
NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair and orderly 2027 Hajj operation and called on the public to remain vigilant and obtain information only through the Commission’s official channels.
