The Chairman of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA), Alhaji Aliyu Musa, has been appointed as the Grand Patron of the Association for Unity and Progress (AUP), Sokoto State Chapter, in recognition of his contributions to youth development and community advancement in the state.
In a statement by the Head of Information and Communications of the Agency, Faruku Umar, the appointment was announced during a courtesy visit by members of the Association, where Alhaji Aliyu Musa was also presented with a Meritorious Award for his outstanding support and contributions towards the development and empowerment of young people in Sokoto State.
Receiving the award, Alhaji Aliyu Musa expressed appreciation to the Association for the recognition and assured its members of his continued commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth development, unity and progress.
He commended the leadership and members of the Association for designing and implementing programmes with direct positive impact on the lives of young people and the wider community.
The PWA Chairman emphasized the importance of youth-focused organizations in addressing contemporary social and economic challenges, urging the Association to remain committed to programmes that promote skills acquisition, self-reliance, unity and peaceful coexistence.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association for Unity and Progress, Alhaji Faruku Galadima, explained the aims and objectives of the organization.
He said the Association is established, among other things, to advance the interests of people in specific trades, professions and industries, while also providing training, workshops and certification opportunities to members and young people.
According to him, the Association is equally committed to developing programmes aimed at addressing specific social needs and improving the quality of life of people within communities.
He described the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Musa as Grand Patron as a demonstration of the Association’s confidence in his leadership, commitment to youth empowerment and contribution to community development.
The Association expressed optimism that his support and guidance would further strengthen its efforts towards achieving its objectives and expanding its programmes across Sokoto State.
