The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has allocated 2,773 Hajj seats to Sokoto State for the 2027 pilgrimage as it continues issuing official allocation letters to state pilgrims’ welfare boards, commissions and agencies across the country.
Hajj Gazette gathered that the commission has begun notifying states of their approved allocations following the conclusion of the quota distribution process for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The allocation to Sokoto provides the state with the official number of pilgrims it can sponsor for next year’s pilgrimage and enables the state pilgrims’ welfare agency to intensify preparations, including registration, documentation, accommodation, transportation and medical screening.
The development comes as NAHCON accelerates preparations for the 2027 Hajj, with state boards expected to align their registration and operational plans with the approved allocations and timelines set by the commission and the Saudi authorities.
The allocation letter guides Sokoto State in determining the number of intending pilgrims it can register for the 2027 Hajj while ensuring that all registered pilgrims complete the required documentation within the stipulated deadlines.
Officials familiar with the process said early notification of state allocations would allow pilgrims’ welfare boards to plan more effectively, avoid last-minute challenges and ensure compliance with Saudi Arabia’s Hajj regulations.
Meanwhil, stakeholders have welcomed the commencement of the allocation process, describing it as a critical milestone that will facilitate early planning and improve the overall coordination of the 2027 pilgrimage.
The commission has consistently urged intending pilgrims to complete their registration and payments promptly through approved channels to enable timely processing of travel documents and other mandatory requirements.
The distribution of allocation letters marks the beginning of full-scale registration, payment verification, orientation programmes and other key preparations for the 2027 Hajj across the states.
