The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) has clarified that it has not opened a new registration for the 2027 Hajj, following the allocation of additional Hajj slots to the state by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
According to the Head of Information and Communications of the Agency, Faruku Umar, the Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, explained that the additional slots were specifically allocated to intending pilgrims who had earlier deposited their Hajj fares but could not be registered due to the unavailability of slots at the time of registration.
He stressed that the additional allocation is not for fresh registration or new applicants, but is intended to accommodate eligible intending pilgrims who had already made payments and were previously unable to secure seats because of the limited quota.
Alhaji Aliyu Musa therefore urged members of the public, particularly intending pilgrims, to disregard rumours and unverified information suggesting that the Agency has commenced new registration for the 2027 Hajj.
He advised intending pilgrims to rely only on official announcements from the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency and NAHCON for authentic information regarding the 2027 Hajj.
The Chairman assured the public that the Agency remains committed to ensuring a transparent, orderly and credible Hajj process and appreciated the cooperation and understanding of intending pilgrims.
