The leadership of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has called on Hajj Registration Officers across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state to ensure prompt remittance of Hajj fares collected from intending pilgrims to the Agency for onward remittance to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
In a statement signed by the Head of Information and Communications of the Agency, Faruku Umar, the call was made by the Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, and the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar JJ, during a meeting with the Secretaries of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
Alhaji Aliyu Musa said the directive became necessary in view of the limited time available for the completion of the 2027 Hajj registration process, with the registration deadline fixed for 26 September 2026.
He urged the Local Government Hajj Registration Officers to be proactive, diligent and committed to ensuring that all payments collected from intending pilgrims are remitted to the Agency without delay.
The Chairman stressed that timely remittance would enable the Agency to fulfil its financial obligations to NAHCON and other relevant Hajj service providers within the stipulated deadlines.
He further urged the Local Government Secretaries to support the assistants Hajj registration officers in ensuring effective coordination, proper documentation and timely submission of all Hajj-related information.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar JJ, emphasized the need for all Hajj stakeholders to remain proactive and committed towards ensuring the success of the 2027 Hajj exercise.
He called on the Local Government Hajj Registration Officers to intensify their efforts in mobilizing intending pilgrims, providing accurate information and ensuring that all necessary registration requirements are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Alhaji Ibrahim further stressed that the success of the Hajj operation requires the collective efforts of the Agency, Local Government authorities, registration officers and intending pilgrims.
He therefore urged all stakeholders to work closely with the Agency and adhere strictly to the guidelines and deadlines issued for the 2027 Hajj registration.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Agency’s leadership and the Local Government representatives to review the progress of the registration exercise and discuss measures aimed at ensuring a smooth, efficient and successful Hajj operation.
