The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has appealed to Nigerian pilgrims, particularly members of the Ulama, to intensify prayers for peace, improved security, and economic recovery in Nigeria.
Professor Usman made the call while addressing journalists shortly after the National Prayer Gathering held at the plains of Arafat, the spiritual climax of the Hajj pilgrimage.
He emphasized the importance of utilizing the sacred moment of Wuquf on Arafat Day to seek divine intervention for the nation, stressing that Nigeria is in dire need of spiritual support to overcome its current challenges.
“I am appealing to all our pilgrims, especially the Ulama, to pray earnestly for the peace and prosperity of our dear country. Let us pray for improved security and economic stability,” the NAHCON Chairman urged.
He also called on the pilgrims to ask God to guide Nigeria’s leaders aright, noting that good leadership remains key to the country’s progress and unity.
“This is a moment of deep spiritual significance. We must use it to ask Allah to guide our leaders, both at the national and sub-national levels, so they can steer the country on the right path,” he added.
The National Prayer Session, held annually during Hajj, brought together Nigerian pilgrims, Islamic scholars, and Hajj officials in a solemn gathering to pray for the nation, its leaders, and citizens.
The event was part of a series of religious activities marking the 2025 Hajj rites, which peaked at Arafat, where pilgrims stood in devotion, prayers, and reflection before proceeding to Muzdalifah for the night.
