The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the death of one of its pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The deceased, Alhaji Babawuro Abdulkadir, hailed from Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State and reportedly passed away after a brief illness.
According to a statement issued by the Board’s Information Officer, Mohammed Mohammed, the pilgrim died at Muzdalifah shortly after observing the Ishai prayer, moments after returning from the plains of Arafat, where pilgrims performed one of the most significant rites of the Hajj pilgrimage.
The statement noted that officials of the Gombe State delegation in Saudi Arabia made immediate efforts to provide medical attention and support to the late pilgrim before his passing.
The Board expressed profound grief over the unfortunate incident and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family, relatives, and loved ones the strength and patience to bear the painful loss.
It further stated that burial arrangements would be conducted in line with Islamic injunctions and the operational guidelines governing Hajj activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Board also appealed to pilgrims from Gombe State to remain calm, prayerful, and mindful of their health as the pilgrimage continues. It reassured families back home that adequate welfare and support measures had been put in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims under its care.
The death occurred as millions of Muslim faithful from across the world continue to observe the spiritual rites of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in the holy land.
