The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called for constructive engagement and collaboration among stakeholders following concerns raised by a State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board over accommodation arrangements in Mina and Arafat ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
In a statement issued by the Commission’s management, NAHCON acknowledged that challenges may arise during preparations for an operation as large and complex as Hajj, stressing that continuous consultation remains the most effective way of resolving issues.
The Commission explained that the selection and allocation of Mashair service providers for the 2026 Hajj were largely based on the preferences and choices made by participating states during consultations with NAHCON.
According to the statement, the Commission respected the collective decisions reached in the interest of pilgrims’ welfare and operational harmony.
NAHCON therefore advised State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards and officials to prioritise direct engagement and solution-driven discussions with service providers rather than taking unresolved concerns to the media prematurely.
The Commission further encouraged states to work closely with service providers on-site to identify gaps, improve arrangements where necessary, and ensure the comfort, safety, and welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
NAHCON reassured intending pilgrims of its commitment to monitoring service delivery in the Mashair and engaging all relevant stakeholders towards ensuring a successful and hitch-free 2026 Hajj exercise.
