NAHCON Embarks on Comprehensive Pre-Hajj Preparations

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), under the leadership of its Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has commenced significant preparations for the 2025 Hajj.

 

The process began with a working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on January 7, 2025, following an invitation from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MoHU). This visit aims to finalize the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 2025 Hajj and solidify other critical arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.

In a statement signed by the Assistant Director Information and Publication of the Commission, Fatima Sabda Usara, said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), under the leadership of its Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has commenced significant preparations for the 2025 Hajj. The process began with a working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on January 7, 2025, following an invitation from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MoHU). This visit aims to finalize the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 2025 Hajj and solidify other critical arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.The NAHCON delegation comprises Commissioners responsible for Planning, Research, and Statistics (Prof. Abubakar Abubakar Yagawal); Operations and Licensing Services (Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi); and Policy and Finance (Alhaji Prince Aliu Abdulrazaq). Representatives from the States Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards/Agencies/Commissions (SPWB/A/C), Private Tour Operators (PTOs), and stakeholders from the National Assembly, the Presidency, and the aviation sector are also part of the delegation.

A pivotal event during the visit is the Bilateral Meeting and MoU signing for the 2025 Hajj, scheduled for January 12, 2025. His Excellency, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will sign the MoU on behalf of Nigeria. Following this, the delegation will attend the International Hajj Expo on January 13, 2025, where they will explore service providers for Nigerian pilgrims.

 

In preparation for the MoU signing, Prof. Saleh and his team will engage in critical meetings with various consular and Hajj officials, including supervisors of the Hajj e-track registration portal, representatives from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and leaders of other countries’ Hajj missions. These engagements will be followed by contract signings with key service providers, such as United Agents, Car Syndicates, Tafweej, and Adillah in Madinah.

 

Simultaneously, NAHCON staff are conducting inspections of accommodation, catering, and medical facilities in Makkah and Madinah to ensure compliance with required standards before formal agreements are finalized.
