NAHCON Finalizes Mashair Accommodation for 52,000 Pilgrims Before Deadline

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has taken a major step toward ensuring a smooth 2025 Hajj experience by securing 26,287 spaces for Nigerian pilgrims in Mashair. Additionally, another 26,000 spaces have been reserved, pending final remittances, which are expected to be completed by February 13, 2025

In a statement signed by Assistant Director Information and Publication of the Commission, Fatima Sanda Usara, said this brings the total allocation to 52,000, matching the number of intending pilgrims for this year’s Hajj.

This timely action, spearheaded by NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, aligns with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s (MOHU) deadline of February 14, set for finalizing contract agreements for Hajj-participating countries. The swift move ensures Nigeria secures its quota before the closure of the Nusuk Masar contracts portal.

As part of this process, Professor Usman signed an agreement on January 17, 2025, at NAHCON’s Ummul Judd office in Makkah, following extensive consultations with key stakeholders. These included the Forum of State Chairmen, NAHCON board members, and a representative from the Presidency.

The Chairman acknowledged the crucial role played by Malam Idris Almakura, Alhaji Faruku Yaro Aliyu, Malam Abubakar Salihu from the States Forum, and Malam Ameen Amshi, representing the Presidency, in screening and selecting the service provider.

To avoid any last-minute hitches, Professor Usman secured approval from Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Makkah and finalize this crucial agreement. This contract is essential for uploading Hajj visas, a process set to begin on February 19.

Expressing his gratitude, Professor Usman commended the Vice President for his unwavering support, confidence in the Commission’s operations, and prompt approval of critical decisions.

He noted that the quick intervention has ensured Nigeria successfully reserves its spaces, setting the stage for a seamless Hajj experience.

The NAHCON Chairman urged intending pilgrims to stay updated through official Commission channels and reassured them that all necessary measures are in place to guarantee a smooth and hitch-free Hajj in 2025.
