The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has intensified its mandatory medical screening of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj across the 25 LGA’s aiming to meet up with the time limit.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Jibrin Usman Kodo.

The exercise which was officially flagged off recently, at the Minna General Hospital, has recorded impressive participation and cooperation from intending pilgrims across all the local government areas.

The exercise is inline with the directive from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), which mandated all State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards to conduct mandatory medical screening for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj.

The medical examinations are being carried out simultaneously at general hospitals in each local government area to ensure accessibility and efficiency.

Monitoring reports received through the Area Pilgrims’ Welfare Officers(APWO’s) indicates that participation levels remain high, with strong commitment observed among intending pilgrims at the grassroots.

The APWO’s noted that the process has been largely hitch-free, helping the board achieve its goal of maintaining high health and safety standards ahead of the journey to the Holy Land.

The screening continues across all the local government areas as more intending pilgrims turn up for medical assessment.

The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, therefore urged all intending pilgrims yet to undergo the mandatory screening to do so without delay before the completion of the exercise.
