Officials of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board have conducted an inspection of a catering facility in Makkah responsible for preparing meals for thousands of Kano pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The inspection team, led by the Kano State Amirul Hajj and Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, paid a surprise visit to the Naima Kitchen operated by Da’am Al Mawasem Company, where food for the pilgrims is prepared and packaged.
During the visit, the officials observed caterers cooking and packaging various meals, while also inspecting storage areas for raw food items.
Speaking during the inspection, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the company, Nuhu Idris Saleh Fallata, said the firm was certified to provide catering services and had implemented measures to meet international standards.
Fallata noted that efforts were made to ensure pilgrims were served meals familiar to them, despite being away from home. “We brought some of the items from home so that our people would feel at home, and nothing changed from their normal diet,” he said.
He added that the company has adequate storage facilities and modern equipment to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of meals.
Responding after the inspection, the Amirul Hajj said the visit was aimed at assessing the quality, hygiene, and processes involved in meal preparation.
“Of course, it is a surprise visit to see how our pilgrims are being fed so that we fulfil our obligations. What we are looking at is hygiene and quality,” he said.
The emir expressed satisfaction with the standards observed at the facility, noting that the inspection provided assurance on the safety and quality of meals being served. “We have come, seen, and I am comfortable with the hygiene and all the processes before the meals are delivered to our pilgrims,” he stated.
He urged the catering company to maintain these standards throughout the remainder of the Hajj exercise.
“I urge you to sustain the tempo so that we will all receive the reward from Allah whom we came here to serve,” the Amirul Hajj concluded.
