The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, under the leadership of Director-General Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, held a stakeholders meeting to finalize arrangements for the upcoming airlift of intending pilgrims to the Holy Land.
The meeting included high-level representation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), with the Zonal Coordinator for Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina, Alhaji Muhammad Umar Kalgo, in attendance.
Important discussions centered on critical logistical aspects of the airlift operation.
Director-General Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo announced that Jigawa State has completed approximately seventy percent of its preparations. Essential items like bags and other necessities have been distributed, and intending pilgrims are now only awaiting entry into the Hajj camp.
He commended Governor Malam Umar Namadi for his full support in ensuring the welfare of Jigawa’s pilgrims, noting that the board’s operational model is being recognized and adapted by other states and NAHCON.
Stakeholders at the meeting included representatives from Umza Airline, Dutse International Airport, Custom, Immigration, NDLEA, Road Safety, Civil Defense, DSS, Police, NAFDAC, and various hoteliers and media organizations. Each offered valuable advice for a smooth operation.
Zonal Coordinator Alhaji Muhammad Umar Kalgo commended Jigawa State for its proactive and timely preparations, highlighting its adherence to established timelines.
He assured that NAHCON will conduct final inspections of all arrangements before the airlift commences.
Reaffirming their commitment, the Managing Director of Umza Airline stated that airlifting of pilgrims will begin on the 4th may, with flights scheduled for 8:30 PM.
The Director-General concluded by thanking all participants and expressing profound gratitude to Governor Malam Umar Namadi for his hundred percent support, which is key to facilitating a smooth and peaceful Hajj exercise in 2026.
