Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance says it has delivered more than 3.3 million awareness messages to Umrah pilgrims during the first quarter of the 1448 AH Umrah season.
The initiative, which reached about 225,000 beneficiaries, is aimed at helping pilgrims perform Umrah rituals correctly while providing them with essential religious, safety and regulatory information.
The messages were displayed on electronic screens installed in hotel prayer rooms around the Grand Mosque in Makkah, as well as in mosques located outside the city’s sacred boundary.
The digital displays provide step-by-step guidance on Umrah rituals, worship practices and religious teachings, alongside information on safety measures and regulations that pilgrims are expected to observe.
The awareness campaign covers nine languages, making the information accessible to pilgrims from different countries and linguistic backgrounds.
The electronic screens also provide access to a wider collection of religious and educational materials through QR codes, allowing pilgrims to scan and instantly download books, guidance materials and other resources in their preferred languages.
The ministry also provides a multilingual toll-free service, where pilgrims can speak with qualified specialists for guidance on Umrah rituals and other religious matters.
The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s wider digital transformation of the pilgrimage sector under the Vision 2030 Pilgrim Experience Program, which seeks to improve services and enhance the experience of visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
Digital technology is increasingly becoming a key part of the pilgrimage experience. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s Nusuk platform now offers more than 130 services globally, while its artificial intelligence-powered assistant provides religious and practical guidance in more than 180 languages.
The Saudi government says the use of digital tools is helping pilgrims access reliable information more easily, regardless of their nationality or language, throughout their spiritual journey.
