Gombe State has concluded arrangements for the airlift of its intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj, with the first batch scheduled to depart on May 4 and the second batch on May 5, 2026.
This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan, shortly after a board meeting held on Thursday in his office.
Speaking to journalists, the Executive Secretary described the development as a major milestone in the state’s preparations for this year’s pilgrimage, noting that a total of 965 intending pilgrims have been fully cleared and prepared for the exercise.
He said the early scheduling of flights reflects the Board’s commitment to efficiency, proper coordination, and strict adherence to international Hajj timelines.
According to him, all critical logistics for a smooth airlift operation have been finalised, and full compliance with health and travel requirements has been ensured for all pilgrims.
Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan further explained that Yellow Cards and the Basis Travel Allowance (BTA) will be issued to all pilgrims on the day of departure to streamline documentation and ensure an orderly process.
He disclosed that Max Air has been engaged as the official carrier for Gombe State pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise, adding that the choice of airline was based on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
The Executive Secretary affirmed that the Board is fully prepared to commence the airlift as scheduled, describing the overall level of readiness as highly satisfactory.
He added that the ongoing orientation programme for pilgrims is in its final stage and is expected to be concluded on Sunday, ahead of departure.
The sessions, he said, were designed to educate pilgrims on Hajj rites, safety procedures, discipline, and expected conduct throughout the pilgrimage.
He urged all intending pilgrims to remain disciplined, patient, and to represent Gombe State with dignity and respect in the Holy Land.
Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan also expressed confidence that Gombe pilgrims would uphold the values of tolerance, unity, and devotion during the exercise.
He noted that the state’s early preparedness places it among the leading states in this year’s Hajj operations, attributing the achievement to effective planning, coordination, and institutional support.
The Executive Secretary commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his unwavering support toward the success of the 2026 Hajj preparations.
According to him, the Governor’s timely interventions, approvals, and provision of resources have significantly strengthened the operations of the Board.
He further described the Governor’s leadership as instrumental in addressing key logistical and administrative challenges.
On health arrangements, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan revealed that special medical measures have been put in place, including close monitoring of pregnant women even up to the day of departure.
He explained that doctors and nurses have been deployed to screen and assess female pilgrims, stressing that necessary medical decisions will be taken to ensure compliance with established health guidelines.
He added that the measure is aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of both mothers and unborn children.
On accommodation in Makkah, the Executive Secretary disclosed that arrangements have been made for separate lodging facilities for male and female pilgrims.
He said the arrangement was designed to enhance privacy, comfort, and orderliness, in line with cultural and religious considerations.
With all preparations completed, anticipation continues to grow among intending pilgrims and their families as Gombe State moves closer to a smooth and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj operation.
