By Muhammad Ahmad Musa

Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the illustrious career of a remarkable public servant, Abubakar Bello Kaoje, as he bids farewell to an extraordinary journey in the civil service. Born on December 31, 1964, in the serene town of Kaoje in Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Kaoje’s life and career epitomize commitment, diligence, and excellence.

Kaoje’s academic journey began at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, where he earned a degree in English in 1990. Following his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ogun State in 1992, his path was set in the Federal Civil Service as an Information Officer. With an innate passion for communication and a flair for public relations, Kaoje further honed his skills at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Ogba, Lagos, earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations in 1994.

In his early career, Kaoje served in the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, where he showcased his knack for strategic communication and information dissemination. His expertise soon became an asset across various ministries, including the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

However, it was in 2004 that Kaoje’s career took a profound turn, one that would leave an indelible mark on the administration of Hajj and Umrah in Nigeria. He joined the Directorate of Pilgrims Affairs, which would later evolve into the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Over the years, Kaoje dedicated himself to serving Nigerian pilgrims, ensuring their spiritual journeys were supported by education, enlightenment, and seamless coordination.

As Zonal Coordinator for several states, Kaoje became a trusted figure, bridging the gap between NAHCON and the pilgrims it serves. His tenure as Assistant Director in the Media Section showcased his ability to amplify NAHCON’s mission and vision, while his role as Deputy Director of Pilgrims Education and Enlightenment allowed him to empower countless individuals with the knowledge necessary for a fulfilling Hajj experience.

Kaoje’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, subordinates, and stakeholders alike. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, leadership, and an unrelenting pursuit of the common good. His journey is a testament to what can be achieved through dedication and a heart committed to service.

As he steps into retirement, we reflect on a career that has left NAHCON and Nigeria’s Hajj administration stronger, more effective, and more responsive. While we bid him farewell from active service, we know his contributions will continue to inspire and guide us in our collective quest to improve the Hajj experience for Nigerians.

Abubakar Bello Kaoje, your name will forever be etched in the annals of NAHCON’s history. May your retirement be as fulfilling as the career you so passionately built. Thank you for your service, and may the next chapter of your life bring you immense joy, peace, and fulfillment.
