The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has clarified guidelines for paid Hajj leave, allowing eligible employees in the Kingdom to take up to 15 days off to perform the pilgrimage.

According to the provisions of Saudi Labour Law, workers are entitled to Hajj leave only once during their period of service, provided they are first-time pilgrims and have completed a minimum of two consecutive years with their current employer.

The ministry explained that the leave period must not be less than 10 days and must not exceed 15 days. This duration includes the Eid al-Adha holiday and is granted with full pay. The entitlement applies to both Saudi nationals and expatriate employees working in the private sector.

However, employers retain the discretion to regulate the number of staff granted leave each year, depending on operational requirements.

The ministry further emphasized that the benefit is strictly a one-time opportunity. Employees who have previously performed Hajj, regardless of when, are not eligible for the paid leave.
